How to Take the Monorail

Have Your Ticket or IC Card Ready.

You can use either a ticket or your IC Card to ride the Osaka Monorail.
For ticket purchase, please see the purchase procedure on this page. For IC card charging, please see the procedure on the fare/tickets page below.

How to Buy a Ticket

  • 1

    Go to the ticket machines. Check fares in the fare table placed above.

  • 2

    Press the “English” button of a purple or red ticket machine.

  • 3

    Press either the “Regular (One-Way)” or “Round-Trip” button

  • 4

    Put in money and press a fare button for your destination. A ticket will be issued.

  • 5

    Head to the automatic ticket gate. Put your ticket in the ticket slot or tap the IC card mark with your IC card to enter the station.

How to Use the Automatic Ticket Machine

You can buy tickets at machines that are purple or red

You can only pay for tickets in cash (credit cards are not accepted).

Free Wi-Fi for Visitors from Overseas

You Can Use Wi-Fi at Every Stop on the Osaka Monorail!

We have free Wi-Fi available for visitors from overseas.
This very convenient free Wi-Fi is available for international tourists at all Osaka Monorail stations, all Hankyu Railway and Kita Osaka Kyuko Railway stations, as well the as Hanshin Electric Railway and shops in the area – it's possible to use Wi-Fi in the Kyoto/Osaka/Kobe area.

Areas with Wi-Fi

The mark on the right is found near the Wi-Fi antenna located on the same floor as the ticket gate.
The Wi-Fi antenna is found near the vending machine area close to the entrance and on the platform.

You can connect to either “Japan Wi-Fi” or “KANSAI Free Wi-Fi” or “TRAVEL JAPAN Wi-Fi”

"HANKYU-HANSHIN WELCOME Wi-Fi" has a linked authentication system with the Wi-Fi detection & connection app "Japan Connected-Free Wi-Fi" (provided by NTT Broadband Platform, Inc.), free Wi-Fi integrated authorization app "KANSAI Free Wi-Fi (Official) (provided by union of Kansai Governments & Kansai Economic Federation), and authenticated users of "TRAVEL JAPAN Wi-Fi" (provided by Wi2, WIRE AND WIRELESS).

Train Manners

  • Avoid talking on the phone when riding the train
  • Do not rush to get on the train
  • Offer your seat to those who need it
  • Avoid having loud conversations
